On this shared day tours of Athens to Delphi you'll be in a legendary sacred area. In ancient times it was known as the "navel of the world". This legend was started when Zeus told two eagles to fly to the center of the earth. They took off in opposite directions and met here at Delphi.
It was the site of the Oracle of Delphi, which was the most important oracle in the classical Greek world, and became the major site for the worship of the god Apollo.
The site of Delphi encompasses the Castalia Spring which is has been constant since ancient times. As we walk up towards the Temple of Apollo we will see the monument to the Argive Kings, the Athenians Stoa which was a tribute to their victory against the Persians, and the Polygonal Wall.  Then we have time to revel in the mastery of the Temple of Apollo which housed the Oracle of Delphi.  It was of considerable influence throughout Greece and the ancient world. Many leaders from around the world at that time came to ask and receive answers before any major undertakings.
