What is and why should you go to a Blue Flag Beach if you can. The award/title of "Blue Flag Beach" that is presented to beaches around the world is the most widely known environmental symbol signaling the quality of the beaches, coastlines and marina.We're proud to say that the latest figures fro 2013 show Greece receiving 393 Blue Flag Beach awards and ranked 2nd place in the world of the 40 countries competing!

If you want to spend your vacation dipping in the gorgeous Aegean sea then keep these 13 award winners in mind: Attica/Athens area namely Schinias (Karavi), Brexida, Avlaki, Mavro Lithari (Eden Beach), Anavyssos (central), Lagonisi 1 (Grand Beach), Lagonisi 2 (Mediterraneo), Lagonisi 3 (Kohilia), Varkiza, Asteras Vouliagmenis, Voula (A), Agia Marina (Aegina Municipality) and Kakia Lagada (Kythera Municipality).

It started in l987 and is still upholding the criteria today. The items that make up the judged criteria are: beach cleanliness, bathing water quality, safety for all, respect for the environment ad of course the preservation of the natural resources.  Actually, there are too many criteria to list but just know that 31 different items are judged for beaches and 24 items for marinas. So this symbol of quality can be trusted
