The Turkish and Islamic Art Museum which is conveniently located right across from the famous Blue Mosque. It was built in 1524 and was the palace of the husband of Sultan Suleman the Great's sister. The museum is greatly respected and has received many acknowledgements for being the 'Islamic art hub'.

So be sure to put it on your itinerary. In the museum you will see some of the finest carpets from the Islamic world. There are over 17,000 manuscrips, 3,000 Qurans plus, many other treasusres like Islamic calligraphy, exquisite tiles, plus ethnographic displays. FYI: Each floor is set up to show a separate subject such as 'traditional' Turkish life, or Islamic art etc. So there is something for everyones' interest.
